Overall Thoughts:

It is with a heavy heart that I regret to inform you that the day I never thought would happen is here.  The reckoning is upon us. Milani Cosmetics has finally let me down. As you are reading this, I may or may not be trying to hold back my tears. My beloved go-to drug store cosmetic's line why do you do this to me? WHYYYY?!? So now that my dramatic tantrum is over lets get to the nitty gritty. In the Color Statement Moisture Matte Lipstick line, there are currently 16 shades available. I have tried out most of them and they have all been amazingly moisturizing for a matte lipstick. Matte Flirty was the exception for me. Before applying all lipsticks and lip glosses, I like to exfoliate my lips with a lip scrub and apply a lip balm. I do this before trying and reviewing any brand. As I was applying it, I noticed a certain tugging on the lips and chalk it up to first time use. I decided to rub it a bit on my arm to warm it up. This did nothing. Once I finally managed to get it on my lips, I noticed it being patchy in certain areas. I have come to notice patchiness in darker color shades from most brands. So I did what I normally do, I tried to build up the product by applying several layers. This was a nightmare. The color started to build up in my lip lines. As Matte Flirty dried down, it would cling to dry patches giving a color distortion on my lips. This was a pain in the butt when I tried to remove it because not only did it stain my lips but was still noticeable in my lip lines. I had to use a heavy face scrub to finally get it off. I really wanted to love this color because it is simply beautiful and for a deep red it doesn't make the teeth appear yellow which can be hard to find. I did not experience any feathering, tackiness, or crumbling. I also enjoyed the slight vanilla smell. Even though this shade wasn't as moisturizing as the rest of the line, it still was long lasting and did not fade till about after 6 hours.

  • Long-lasting: about 8.5 hours
  • There is a slight chemical smell in the pan but not noticed when applied.
  • Definitely not for the faint of heart. This baby is not subtle. I suggest you use a light hand.
  • The packaging can be a bit tricky to open. (I chipped a nail).

Overall Thoughts:

The Balm Cosmetics' Mary-Lou Manizer® AKA "The Luminizer" is a gift from the gods. This is currently my favorite highlighter at the moment. If you want to shine bright like a diamond, than I suggest you haul butt to the internet to purchase Mary. There is nothing subtle about her. This universally flattering highlight applies effortlessly and melts onto your skin without feeling heavy. The buttery formulation blends like no other and doesn't accentuate pores. The shimmer is so finely milled that the finish can be described more pearlescent than glittery. It is non-streaky and it doesn't transfer on the skin. Although this highlighter is not what I would consider "subtle", you can still amplify it if you like by using it wet. This technique will give you more of a metallic finish. To date, I have used this highlighter for the cheeks, the brow bone, the inner eye corner and even as an eyeshadow. I love the tongue in cheek packaging and love how sleek it is considering there is a huge mirror in the lid. I have read several reviews saying that it sucks for travel but I have had really good luck. ::::knocks on all the wood:::: Mary-Lou Manizer® AKA "The Luminizer" lasted about 8.5 hours on me before fading into a dewy look which I did not mind one bit. I know some people are kind of iffy about the price but if you do the math you get a lot of product for what you pay. The math comes out to be $2.82 per gram. I would recommend you take advantage when they have a sale going on cause they really do sales the right way. I will purchasing the other two sisters to try them out because Mary can't live in my drawers without the rest of her family keeping her company.
