Milani Cosmetics - Color Statement Lipstick - 21 Sangria

Milani Cosmetics: Color Statement Lipstick in 21 - Sangria

Description: (Taken from the Milani Cosmetics Website)

"Bellissimo! You know how some (lesser) lipsticks look one way in the store, and then completely different in your bathroom mirror? Color Statement is the antithesis of that. A super-luxe, grown-up girl lipstick, it delivers true instant colour in a single swipe. Laced with vitamins A and C to hydrate and nourish, this collection is all about options: Corals and Reds, Orchids and Plums, Nudes, and Pinks. Trust us, you’ll want an entire wardrobe."

Distributed By: Los Angeles, CA

Purchased At: CVS Pharmacy Store for $6.29

Packaging:

A recycled, gold-mirrored plastic rectangular tube with the color sample selection, the color assigned number selection, and name of the color shade are located on the bottom of the lipstick tube. The company's name is seen on the top of the lipstick tube in an off beige/gold color. You take the top off to twist up the lipstick for use.

Includes: One lipstick tube

Application: (Taken from the Milani Cosmetics Website)

"Begin applying from the center of your upper lips and work your way to the outer edges. Same application is used for your bottom lips. Tip: Lipliner helps extend the wear & keeps your lipstick from feathering.   When choosing a lipliner shade, match the lipliner to your lipstick shade or match your lipliner to the shade of your lips which will work with all your lipstick shades.   Create a custom lipcolor by using a contrasting lipliner and lipstick shade."

Overall Thoughts:

Happy Winesday! The Milani Cosmetics Color Statement Lipstick in 21 - Sangria is and forever shall be my wine partner in crime. After I had a small little break from Milani Cosmetics last week, I am back embracing this little gem and reigniting my love for the brand. During the Halloween season, I may or may not have gone a bit crazy (depends on your definition of crazy) and purchased a crap ton of darker lipstick shades that were definitely out of my nude comfort zone. I do not regret my decision one bit. Over the weekend, I attended a wine tasting. I decided to pair this glorious deep wine red color with a top knot and a killer winged eyeliner. This color applied smoothly and was moisturizing. Although upon initial application, it was a wee bit patchy but eventually it set evenly after a few layers. Sangria's finish can be described as a glossy, semi-matte. It did not settle into my lip lines nor did it cling onto any dry patches on my lip. Sangria is very lightweight and lasted for about 7 hours long. Maybe wine could be attributed to its longlasting powers but I highly doubt it. This shade was true to the color swatch and selection on the bottom of the tube. My only complaint is that it can make teeth appear slightly yellow. Yes, there is staining and transfer and smudging oh my but come on now have we not turn a blind eye to these things before? I know I have. I don't know about you but in my experience it is getting harder and harder to find certain Milani products at my local drugstores. I feel like they have been coming out with new stuff and just completely doing away with some permanent items. I really hope this changes soon cause I love 99.9995% of the whole collection and have been slowly trying to complete my collection.

Overall Thoughts:

The Bobbi Brown Cosmetics' Sparkle Eye Shadow collection is available on their personal website with 9 different shades. They are also sold on the Sephora website but only 7 shades are available. The Sparkle Eye Shadow in 26 - Silver Lilac is a color you really want to love so bad but it is like that boyfriend that makes numerous promises time and time again yet always falls short of your expectations. It was originally released in a few different limited palettes but was made a permanent shade in the collection. The color is gorgeous in the pan and if you really work with this color it can give you a subtle elegant shimmer that is best used layered over an eyeshadow base. Trust me, I have tried using several eyeshadow primers, concealers, setting sprays, and MAC fix plus. The best way to get this eyeshadow to show up on the lid is to use an eyeshadow base and spritz with MAC fix plus to pack on Silver Lilac with a synthetic brush. The texture in the pan is extremely gritty and rough to touch with a patchy application. There is some glitter fallout but that is usually expected when dealing with glitter-shimmer shadows. This shadow is extremely hard to build up nor does it blend out at well. The picture does not do the color any justice. I also detected a weird smell that reminds of a cleaning product. Silver Lilac lasted about 5.5 hours before I noticed some fading. Unfortunately, I do not think I will be repurchasing this shade again. Although, it is a lovely color it requires way too much work to get it to show up and I have other products in my collection that do a better job.
