MAC Cosmetics - Eye Shadow / PRO Palette Refill Pan

MAC Cosmetics: Eye Shadow / PRO Palette Refill Pan - New Price?

The reason why I follow the words new price with a question mark is that I am very skeptical about this new price change for the PRO Palette Eye Shadow Refill Pans. It is not marked as a sale or as a price adjustment that is time sensitive but only as a new price. I will rejoice if this is a permanent fixture. So in true sane fashion, I feel I must ordered as many as the spending limit of my credit card. Being a MAC consumer for many years, I was late to the game in regards to knowing you could actually buy most of their eye shadows in individual pans versus buying them in the eyeshadow compact pots. It is not really something that is advertised at the MAC counters in the department stores. I could see why MAC would drop their prices with most companies now offering top notch quality products for under $10.00. This is a smart move that will help keep their profits up in the long run despite on just relying on the stigma of their brand name which who are we kidding we will still purchase because it is MAC.

Here is the price breakdown:
  • Eyeshadow in black compact pot: $16.00
  • Eye shadow / PRO Palette Refill Pan:
    • Original Price: $10.00
    • New Price:$6.00

Overall, you'll be saving $4.00 from the original price and $10.00 if you compare pan vs pot. Yes, you'll have to buy some form of a palette storage to keep the shadows in but in the long run you'll be saving money because palettes can last a long time if you take good care of them. Unfortunately, shadows come and go. So with over 127 shadows in different finishes, you have a cornucopia of palettes to create. What shades will you be ordering?

  • A bit pricey but do recommend purchasing it as an individual pan you'll save $6.00
  • Color looks darker in the pan

Overall Thoughts:

MAC Cosmetics Eye Shadow comes in a variety of 119 shades available on their website. They do have different cosmetic counters in certain department stores. I feel that certain department stores  don't carry the same variety that the MAC Cosmetics website offers. Nylon is one of those shades that is a must have in your makeup collection. It has me feeling all sorts of ice queen Elsa like despite it looking more golden/yellow in the pan. This color is extremely pigmented with a creamy texture that provides for a smooth application that you can barely feel on the lid. Nylon can be built upon taking it from a sheer to an opaque intense look just buy wetting your brush with MAC fix plus. When creating a gradient look, this shadow blends beautifully. To date, I have used Nylon as a cheek highlighter, brow bone highlighter and an inner eye corner highlight. It lasted throughout my 8 hour work day without creasing up on my eyes. Yes, MAC products tend to be on the expensive side but stigma aside they are fantastic. I have a secret love/hate relationship with the company. They do offer the majority of their eyeshadows in pan form which will shave a few dollars off the price of their compact form.

MAC Cosmetics - MAC Select Membership

MAC Cosmetics: MAC Select Membership

"MAC Cosmetics invites you to become part of MAC Select - our makeup-lovers' cult for seduced, devoted, and downright obsessed. The more you purchase, the more covetable privileges you earn and the higher you climb our three elite tiers."

Like most girls growing up, if it was not MAC I was not purchasing it. It was the holy grail and the fountain of youth for me as a teenager to pretty much most of my adult years. It wasn't until maybe 5 years ago, I had somewhat of a "meh" experience and I swore of MAC for a bit and encountered the likes of places like Sephora and slowly started to branch out to other cosmetic companies. With Sephora and Ulta having rewards point and discount for their costumers, I always wondered when MAC would jump on the train. THIS DAY HAS FINALLY ARRIVED! And for once despite all things MAC, this membership is free and all you have to do is sign up via email. There are three tiers available with each tier offering a little bit more than the first. The membership is not a horrendous offer but from what I can see what is being offered Sephora and Ulta have better programs available. Even though I continue to have a love-hate relationship with MAC, I hate their costumer service (even though they do have some employees sprinkled amongst the standard robots) but I do love their products I have signed up to see how it goes. We will be updating our experience as the year progresses to see if this is a yay or nay.

If you wish to sign up for this membership program, please click here.
