Color Commentary:

The Wet n Wild's To Reflect Shimmer Palette in A066 - I'll Have a Cosmo is a pink silvery highlight color in a shimmer finish that has some glitter dispersed throughout.

Chart Review:

Pros
Cons
  • Cruelty Free
  • Super Affordable especially with the amount of product and the quality of product you are getting
  • Lightweight
  • Blendable
  • Buildable - you can go from a more sheer look to an extremely intense look
  • Great pigmentation
  • Doesn't accentuate textured skin
  • Multipurpose use: cheek highlight, inner eye corner highlight, eyeshadow
  • Don't ship internationally
  • Rough powdery texture due to the baked nature of the formulation
  • Bulky packaging for travel
  • Snap enclosure a bit tricky - use tweezers or nails to open
  • Powdery smell
  • Slight fall out recommend using with a face primer  to prevent glitter transfer

Overall Thoughts:

The Wet n Wild's To Reflect Shimmer Palette are part of the upcoming 2016 collection. There are three different shades in this collection that work well with different skin tones. They are slowly trickling into the drug stores so if you spot them I suggest you pick them up. These appear to be very similar if not the same as the Fergie Center Stage Collection - To Reflect Shimmer Palette in A045 - Rose Champagne Glow. The To Reflect Shimmer Palette in A066 - I'll Have A Cosmo is a super affordable beautiful silvery pink highlight that adds a beautiful glow to the cheeks that lasted about 7 hours on my skin. At first, it feels very grainy and rough in the pan due to the fact that it is a baked product but with use it does seem to become a bit smoother. It feels very lightweight on the skin and doesn't accentuate textured skin. I'll Have A Cosmo is very blendable and buildable. You can change the coverage depending on how you apply the highlighter. You can go from a very sheer look to a more intense opaque coverage by either wetting your brush with a fix/setting spray or by using a primer/cream highlight underneath. To date, I have used this as a cheek highlight, an inner eye corner highlight, and in the center of the eyelid for that dimensional pop of color. There is a slight powdery smell in the pan that isn't noticed when on the skin. The only thing that might lead people to pass on this highlighter is the fact there is a bit of fall out that can transfer on the skin throughout the day. I noticed that if I used a face primer and a setting spray in conjunction with I'll Have A Cosmo there was less shimmer transfer seen on the skin. I would recommend this shade for those with a fair to light skin with pink undertones but in true spirit if you like it then rock it. I will definitely be repurchasing this product because you get a ton of product with amazing pigmentation for the fraction of the price.

MAC Cosmetics - Eye Shadow / PRO Palette Refill Pan

MAC Cosmetics: Eye Shadow / PRO Palette Refill Pan - New Price?

The reason why I follow the words new price with a question mark is that I am very skeptical about this new price change for the PRO Palette Eye Shadow Refill Pans. It is not marked as a sale or as a price adjustment that is time sensitive but only as a new price. I will rejoice if this is a permanent fixture. So in true sane fashion, I feel I must ordered as many as the spending limit of my credit card. Being a MAC consumer for many years, I was late to the game in regards to knowing you could actually buy most of their eye shadows in individual pans versus buying them in the eyeshadow compact pots. It is not really something that is advertised at the MAC counters in the department stores. I could see why MAC would drop their prices with most companies now offering top notch quality products for under $10.00. This is a smart move that will help keep their profits up in the long run despite on just relying on the stigma of their brand name which who are we kidding we will still purchase because it is MAC.

Here is the price breakdown:
  • Eyeshadow in black compact pot: $16.00
  • Eye shadow / PRO Palette Refill Pan:
    • Original Price: $10.00
    • New Price:$6.00

Overall, you'll be saving $4.00 from the original price and $10.00 if you compare pan vs pot. Yes, you'll have to buy some form of a palette storage to keep the shadows in but in the long run you'll be saving money because palettes can last a long time if you take good care of them. Unfortunately, shadows come and go. So with over 127 shadows in different finishes, you have a cornucopia of palettes to create. What shades will you be ordering?

You can download that application HERE. I also suggest you looking into applying for the Target REDcard for an additional 5% off your purchase. You can sign up for that HERE.

Chart Review:
Pros
Cons
  • No smell
  • Buildable: sheer to opaque
  • Very pigmented
  • Creamy texture
  • Smooth Application
  • Multipurpose use: cheek highlighter, brow bone highlight, and inner corner of the eye highlight

  • Safe for contact lens wearers
  • Don't ship internationally but do have stores internationally
  • Bulky packaging for travel
  • A bit pricey but do recommend purchasing it as an individual pan you'll save $6.00
  • Color looks darker in the pan

Overall Thoughts:

MAC Cosmetics Eye Shadow comes in a variety of 119 shades available on their website. They do have different cosmetic counters in certain department stores. I feel that certain department stores  don't carry the same variety that the MAC Cosmetics website offers. Nylon is one of those shades that is a must have in your makeup collection. It has me feeling all sorts of ice queen Elsa like despite it looking more golden/yellow in the pan. This color is extremely pigmented with a creamy texture that provides for a smooth application that you can barely feel on the lid. Nylon can be built upon taking it from a sheer to an opaque intense look just buy wetting your brush with MAC fix plus. When creating a gradient look, this shadow blends beautifully. To date, I have used Nylon as a cheek highlighter, brow bone highlighter and an inner eye corner highlight. It lasted throughout my 8 hour work day without creasing up on my eyes. Yes, MAC products tend to be on the expensive side but stigma aside they are fantastic. I have a secret love/hate relationship with the company. They do offer the majority of their eyeshadows in pan form which will shave a few dollars off the price of their compact form.

Color Commentary:

The Milani Cosmetics' Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadow describe 18 - Bella Emerald as a 'shimmering emerald green'. It is a dark forest green with a golden glittery shimmer when used dried but a metallic finish when wet.

Chart Review:

Pros
Cons
  • Cruelty Free
  • Vegan
  • No smell
  • Gel to powder formulation provides for smooth texture application
  • Lightweight
  • Blendable
  • Buildable
  • Cute packaging for a drug store brand
  • Affordable
  • Good pigmentation dry but great intense pigmentation if used with primer or wet with MAC fix plus
  • Shimmer finish if used dry but an intense metallic finish when used wet
  • Works best when used with either a synthetic brush or your finger to pack on
  • Glitter is not chunky but finely milled
  • No creasing
  • Long-wearing: 7 hours before fading
  • True to color description
  • Milani Cosmetics does offer an exchange if purchased product through their website
  • Packaging can be a bit bulky for traveling
  • Can feel a bit rough texture in pan that gets smoother with use
  • Packaging can be hard to open if you don't have nails or use a tweezer
  • The color looks glittery in the pan
  • A little bit of fallout was experienced if not applied by wetting your brush or using your finger.
  • Milani Cosmetics does not ship international you would have to go through a third party vendor.
  • This formula does not work well with most brushes.

Overall Thoughts:

Milani Cosmetics currently has 31 shades in the Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadow collection. Number 18 - Bella Emerald is just a showstopper. This gel to powder formula allows for effortless application that sits lightweight on the eye and does not crease up. It catches the light simply gorgeous and gives you that dimensional pop to the eyelid. To apply, I wet my synthetic brush with MAC fix plus to get that intense metallic look that I just simply live and breathe for. I do recommend you pack on the lid because if you do brush strokes you will experience some fall out which tends to come with the glitter/shimmer territory. This shadow doesn't get chalky or crease up if you use other shadows on top of it. Although I do think the packaging is cute, they just fall short for traveling purposes. The snap enclosure can sometimes be a bit finicky to open but i usually just stick my nail in there. Since this collection is super affordable, we are in the process of trying to hunt down all 31 shades to review them for you. So far, there has not been a shadow that disappoints.

Color Commentary:

Bobbi Brown Cosmetics describes this Sparkle Eye Shadow in 26 - Silver Lilac as an 'opal lavender'. The Sephora Website describes this color as an 'opal pink lavender sparkle'. It is a light-pale white lavender with a pink shift in a sparkle shimmer finish.

Chart Review:

Pros
Cons
  • Cruelty Free
  • Made a permanent shade in the collection
  • Multipurpose: used as a cheek highlighter, inner corner of the eye, and layered over an eyeshadow
  • Complements many different skin tones
  • Subtle hint of shimmer / glitter that is simply beautiful
  • Best if used with a primer or with MAC fix plus because if not its very hard to see this color
  • More intense if packed and pressed on to the eyelid
  • Great exchange / refund program
  • Extremely hard to get this color to appear on the swatch
  • Not buildable
  • Not blendable
  • Patchy application
  • Rough gritty texture
  • Glitter fall out
  • Has this weird smell that reminds me of a cleaning product
  • Hard to open the package unless you use your nails or tweezer
  • Packaging is not ideal for travel
  • Got about 5.5 hours of wear time
  • Bobbi Brown Cosmetics only ships to Us and Canada

Overall Thoughts:

The Bobbi Brown Cosmetics' Sparkle Eye Shadow collection is available on their personal website with 9 different shades. They are also sold on the Sephora website but only 7 shades are available. The Sparkle Eye Shadow in 26 - Silver Lilac is a color you really want to love so bad but it is like that boyfriend that makes numerous promises time and time again yet always falls short of your expectations. It was originally released in a few different limited palettes but was made a permanent shade in the collection. The color is gorgeous in the pan and if you really work with this color it can give you a subtle elegant shimmer that is best used layered over an eyeshadow base. Trust me, I have tried using several eyeshadow primers, concealers, setting sprays, and MAC fix plus. The best way to get this eyeshadow to show up on the lid is to use an eyeshadow base and spritz with MAC fix plus to pack on Silver Lilac with a synthetic brush. The texture in the pan is extremely gritty and rough to touch with a patchy application. There is some glitter fallout but that is usually expected when dealing with glitter-shimmer shadows. This shadow is extremely hard to build up nor does it blend out at well. The picture does not do the color any justice. I also detected a weird smell that reminds of a cleaning product. Silver Lilac lasted about 5.5 hours before I noticed some fading. Unfortunately, I do not think I will be repurchasing this shade again. Although, it is a lovely color it requires way too much work to get it to show up and I have other products in my collection that do a better job.
